Digital Assessment Solution

Challenge

The member induction process has traditionally been done on paper for the majority of health clubs. David Lloyd wanted a digital solution in order to track that a specific member had completed an induction/assessment and report against the data collected.

David Lloyd have a number of different types of assessments carried out on a variety of members. Any potential solution needed to be flexible to accommodate multiple assessment types.

A digital solution would immediately resolve the legal storage concern for assessments, where the business would have to store the paperwork on each client for a duration of 7 years.

The solution should enable trainers to capture assessments on the gym floor via a tablet device.

David Lloyd wanted to be able to run reports to ensure that all new members were being inducted into the club and that existing members were being re-inducting existing members in line with their service offerings. David Lloyd wanted to be able to analyse the data to see members results based on their attendance and the workouts that they had completed.

Solution

Fisikal was able to adapt its online assessment solution to the enable David Lloyd to create multiple assessment types and make these visible for trainers to use with their clients.

For version 1 Fisikal released the assessment tool to trainers through a web browser app. Trainers would quickly and efficiently able to capture the assessment data. Based on real live user experience Fisikal quickly amended the solution to include “data auto-save” to protect trainers from losing their work if they lost internet connection or their device powered off.

Once the web application was approved by David Lloyd, Fisikal quickly created an iPad assessment solution as a native David Lloyd Trainer iPad app. Trainers now did not have to rely on the web connectivity whilst assessing members. The app would connect to the internet when data was due to be sent, providing a seamless trainer assessment solution.

Member workout prescription solution

Challenge

David Lloyd like most other health club chains still used workout cards on the gym floor. David Lloyd as a business could not easily analyse the types of programmes their trainers were delivering to members or even if the members had ever looked at the programmes.

The challenge was to create a workout creation solution for trainers so that members could have access to their workouts at home and in the gym via the web and mobile devices.

Workouts should ideally include instructional videos so that members could view a preview video of each exercise the trainer had assigned to them.

David Lloyd wanted to be able to report on workouts (to see whether members were actually looking at their workouts) and cross reference this against assessment data. Armed with this information David Lloyd could view whether a member was getting the results they set out to achieve.

Solution

Fisikal customised its existing solution so that trainers could personalise workouts for specific members / groups of members to enter specific Sets, Reps, Weight and duration for any given exercise via a web browser application. Trainers would compile a workout based on a series of templates that David Lloyd administration had configured. Workouts would be visible to members on the web or via dedicated iOS and Android phone apps.

Fisikal combined the workout creation tool into the David Lloyd Trainer iPad app. The web application was heavily reliant on internet connection, so if for some reason the internet went down, a trainer would lose the programme they had just created for the member. Fisikal added “data auto-save” to the web and iPad app. This significantly enhanced the trainer’s user experience of the solution.

David Lloyd wanted their equipment suppliers to be able to provide them with instructional videos for their products. Fisikal managed to obtain a few hundred videos from key suppliers such as Lifefitness and Escape Fitness which were loaded into Fisikal, tagged and assigned to specific user roles. This ensured trainers could quickly find equipment instructional videos and knit them into workouts for members.

Members are able to view a collection of pre-designed and personalised workouts by the David Lloyd team via the web, iOS and Android phone apps. Members can also view an extensive collection of video tips to help them with their fitness goals.

David Lloyd administration are able to analyse any member record to establish their engagement in any programme assigned to their account. This gives their business a great understanding about their members, whilst helping them create strategies to best support their members.
